satori quartet

The Satori-Quartet represents a new generation of young emerging guitar quartets. The artists Wiebke Rademacher, Karl Christoph Rensch, Mathias Göppel and Michael Zeuner are all prize winners at the national “Jugend musiziert” competition and members of the prestigious Youth Guitar Orchestra of Baden-Württemberg.
The sound of the four guitars easily changes between fusion and autonomy. Their clear presence, dedication and high artistic level are constants of their playing. In addition to the classical guitar repertoire, the Quartet draws on its own transcriptions as well as commissioned compositions.
The program is made up of a coherent selection of musical works. Thus, for example, programs such as “Renaissance vs. Contemporary Music” with works by L. Brouwer and G.M. Nanino are being developed.
The Satori-Quartet was founded in Turin, Italy in 2008 and soon after started its stage career. From the very beginning a lively artistic exchange between the quartet and the composers Michael Quell and Martin Sadowski was brought into being. Here the first pieces already world premiered.
In 2010 the quartet is booked for several international appearances in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Brazil. A CD with contemporary music will be available in 2011.
The Quartet considers itself as a chamber music ensemble that wants to open guitar music to a wider audience both by maintaining the classical guitar repertoire and by interpreting the works dedicated to the guitar quartet.
The artists consciously choose this tension between contemporary music and guitarist tradition to demonstrate the versatility of this instrumentation. Loyalty to the text and interpretative clarity as well as concentration and a playful presence characterize the performance of the four musicians.

parallels

quartet music between Renaissance and contemporary music

Every musical era stands in contrast to another – however there are always conceptual and musical parallels between different epochs. Comparing early and contemporary music reveals exciting divergences but also some amazing analogies. Within a differentiated system an area of tension is created which combines both eras and ranges from polyphony to harmony and from variation to quote.
